Liverpool's Title Hopes Boosted with Stalemate Against Arsenal
Late Firmino Header Earns Reds 2-2 Draw
Pivotal Victory Denied for Gunners as Title Race Opens Up
Roberto Firmino's dramatic late header at Anfield on Sunday denied Arsenal a pivotal victory and has reignited the Premier League title race.
The Gunners had seemed destined to move within two points of the leaders after goals from Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and Leandro Trossard put them in control of a pulsating encounter at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
However, Liverpool showed their resilience to come from behind twice, with Darwin Nunez's first-half equaliser cancelled out by Saka before Firmino's towering header in the 90th minute secured a share of the spoils.
The draw leaves Arsenal top of the table by one point, while Liverpool leapfrog Aston Villa to go second on goal difference. It is a result that suits both teams, but perhaps a better one for Liverpool, who have now closed the gap on their rivals and kept their title hopes alive.
